After attending high school at the prestigious Harvard School, he studied anatomy and physiology at U. C. Berkeley, where he was valedictorian and graduated with high honors. He went to medical school at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he continued research projects that he had started at Berkeley.

He then studied general surgery at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident. While credentialing in plastic surgery requires only a mere three prerequisite years of this training, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum completed an entire training program in general surgery, and has been recognized for this by also being certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. William P. Adams Jr. is a international authority on breast augmentation/ enlargement, breast implants including cohesive gel implants and body contouring procedures. He has developed a new techniques for use in clinical breast implant surgery that has made breast augmentation / enlargement and breast reconstruction safer for patients.

Dr. William P. Adams Jr. spent his 1st 10 years in practice in the Department of Plastic Surgery At UT Southwestern Medical Center before transitioning to full time private practice to devote more time to his clinical practice and spend more time with his family. He is presently an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. William P. Adams Jr. received his undergraduate degree with honors from Princeton University. He attended Vanderbilt University Medical School where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received the prestigious award for the best graduating clinician. He completed both his general surgery and his plastic surgery residency training in the nationally renowned resident training program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. He also completed an additional year of fellowship in plastic surgery at UT Southwestern.

Dr. William P. Adams Jr. is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS), a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS), Texas Society of Plastic Surgery, the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the breast implant task force.
